Genus: Siebenrockiella

Siebenrockiella is a small genus of freshwater turtles belonging to the family Geoemydidae, native to Southeast Asia. It includes two recognized species: Siebenrockiella crassicollis (the black marsh turtle) and Siebenrockiella leytensis (the Palawan forest turtle). These turtles are known for their dark-colored, domed shells and preference for slow-moving or stagnant waters such as swamps, marshes, and forest streams. They are primarily nocturnal, feeding on a mix of plant matter and small animals. Both species face conservation threats due to habitat destruction and illegal wildlife trade, with S. leytensis being critically endangered.
