Genus: Pelodiscus

Pelodiscus is a genus of small to medium-sized softshell turtles native to East Asia. They are known for their leathery, flexible shells and long necks. These turtles are highly aquatic, often burying themselves in sand or mud with just their eyes and nose showing. Pelodiscus species are quick, adaptable, and mostly feed on insects, small fish, and aquatic plants. They are commonly found in rivers, lakes, and rice paddies across China, Korea, Vietnam, and parts of Russia.
