Genus: Homopus

The Homopus genus, commonly known as padlopers or parrot-beaked tortoises, includes some of the smallest tortoise species in the world. Native to southern Africa, these tortoises are adapted to arid environments and are characterized by their flat, oval-shaped shells, which help them navigate rocky terrain. They primarily feed on small plants and flowers and are known for their elusive behavior, often hiding under vegetation or rocks to avoid predators.
