Genus: Geoemyda

The genus Geoemyda is a group of small, terrestrial turtles commonly known as leaf turtles, native to parts of Southeast Asia. These turtles are typically found in forested habitats, where they thrive in humid environments. Their distinct feature is a flattened, oval-shaped carapace that blends well with the leaf litter on the forest floor, aiding in camouflage. Species within this genus are primarily omnivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits, plants, and small invertebrates. Due to habitat loss and collection for the pet trade, several species in this genus are considered vulnerable or endangered.
