Genus: Emydoidea

Emydoidea is a genus of freshwater turtles, with its only species being the Blanding’s turtle (Emydoidea blandingii). These turtles are known for their distinctive domed shells, yellow throats, and their preference for wetland habitats like marshes and ponds. Native to parts of North America, Blanding’s turtles are semi-aquatic and are often seen basking in the sun or foraging for food in shallow water. Their long lifespan, slow maturation, and declining population due to habitat loss make them a species of conservation concern.
