Story of Lorenzo, the Texas Tortoise Who Returned Home After a Daring Escape!

In a heartwarming turn of events, Lorenzo, a 180-pound Texas tortoise, has been reunited with his owner Gabriel Fernandez after a suspenseful escape from his backyard in Dallas.

Last seen on August 29, Lorenzo’s disappearance had Fernandez fearing the worst. However, after nearly a month, a local resident’s alert to Dallas Animal Services led to a joyful reunion on September 21.

Escape and Discovery

Despite reinforced fences designed to keep his tortoises secure, Lorenzo managed to dig his way out. His knack for burrowing, typical of his species, enabled his brief adventure beyond the family’s wooded backyard.

It wasn’t until a Dallas-area resident spotted Lorenzo and contacted authorities that hope was restored. Identification was confirmed through unique markings on Lorenzo’s shell, leading to the happy reunion.
